Well since the evacuation possibility is mentioned and I got email today with questions, let me make some commentary.

First: There are NO evil aliens participating, they are all removed, so you don't have to fear boarding the wrong craft.

There is some possibility some bodies will not handle the beam and die, but the soul will board ship. Do not let this affect you. Board anyway, unless you wish to experience the quakes and waves.

Fifth: Do not go back for stuff you do not need, it is not time to pack a suitcase, board the craft. They will take pets.   If at night, you may be awakened and taken to the beam. GO.

You do not NEED anything. Running for old pictures, or other physical stuff could get you left behind. Since there will not be huge volcanism and the like though, there should be some reasonable time to board everybody. Some craft may be able to actually land.

Sixth: They have good well trained crew aboard who have been doing this before. You will be taken to a mother ship. Everything is provided. You WILL be expected to help out on board in whatever capacity you can. Those in extreme fear can be put into a comatose type state. Children that are not at home or at work with you, will be reunited with you as soon as it can be arranged.
